IRCC's Latest Move: 1,500 ITAs Issued in French Language Skills Draw on March 26, 2024
This month has been remarkable in the landscape of Canadian immigration, with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducting its fourth Express Entry draw in March and the second one this week. This latest draw continues to emphasize the importance of French language proficiency in the Express Entry system.
The recent draw, which is the fourth of its kind this month, issued 1,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates with French language skills. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this draw was 388.
This trend began earlier in the year, with a record-setting draw on February 29, 2024, where 2,500 ITAs were issued to French speakers with a historically low minimum CRS score of 336. Earlier, on February 1, 2024, 7,000 French-speaking candidates received ITAs with a CRS score requirement of 365. To date, nearly 20,000 candidates have been invited through this category, making it one of the most frequent draws in the Express Entry system and notable for its relatively low score requirements compared to other categories or general draws.
This ongoing emphasis on French language proficiency is a clear signal from IRCC about the value placed on linguistic diversity and bilingualism in Canada. The lower CRS scores in these category-specific draws present a significant opportunity for French-speaking candidates to secure their place in Canada.
Recommendation:
Given the frequency and accessibility of these French-specific draws, we at Immigrative Visa Services Inc. strongly recommend that individuals who meet the criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades (FST), or Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and have a B2 level in French to promptly enter the Express Entry pool. The current trend underscores the significant advantage that French language proficiency can provide in the Express Entry system.
For those who are still working on their French language skills, this period presents an ideal opportunity for further training. Improving your French to meet the B2 level can dramatically enhance your prospects within the Express Entry system, especially considering the lower CRS score requirements in these specific draws.
The benefits of being a French speaker in the Canadian immigration landscape are more pronounced than ever. Taking steps to improve or showcase your French language skills could be a pivotal factor in your successful immigration journey.
